Always get your new job offer in writing before you do anything about leaving your previous employer! When you’re in the exciting phase of being interviewed and hailed as the potential new employee, it’s easy to get complacent and overlook certain contractual details that you take for granted. You can also take the time to get some legal advice about the terms and conditions. Never assume that a company will automatically ‘do the right thing’ by you. They’re in business for themselves (usually), and have their own best interests at heart. Ensure you protect your interests and theirs, and get it in writing first!
